| The Stats |
| According to the National Association of Realtors, (NAR), FSBOs made up approximately 14% of residential real estate transactions in 2003, down from 18% reported in 1997, and far below its’ peak of 20% in 1987. This is in sharp contrast to the previous decade’s predictions of the internet’s disintermediation of Real Estate Agents, and speculation that NAR memberships might be reduced by as much as half. To the contrary, NAR has grown to now have over 1.2 million members, while the percentage of properties sold “FSBO” has been in decline, sitting at a record low of 13% in 2005. |
